Originally published in the "CIvitates Orbis Terrarum", this striking
reproduction Map of Early London, shows the London of 1561. With a population
of around 200,000 at the time, the post-medieval city was a bustling hub of
trade and culture. Features of the map include the old Roman Wall, The original
London Bridge, complete with buildings, a functioning moat around the Tower
Towre") of London, and a tall spire attached to St. Paul's Cathedral. The
location of Charing Cross is mostly farmland and fields still.
